HPCG Cleanup

in Events by Karen Hessel

LAZ Parking and Monroe College students helped Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse (HPCG) committee members do a fall cleanup at Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse on Friday, October 12th, 2018. New committee member Dr. Nicole Forman-Torres coordinated the successful event. HPCG VP Margaret Chadwick gave an overview of the project to the group. HPCG President Millie Radonjic-Ilich brought pizza and waters for the group.

Everyone was amazed at how high and dense the vegetation had grown since the last cleanup on Earth Day in March. Karen Hessel, Secretary of HPCG commented how wonderful the Monroe students were and how hard they worked. “What a great group from Monroe College! Students ranged from freshman to seniors, business majors to pasty chefs! They picked up racks and clippers and just worked.”

Margaret Chadwick commented “LAZ Parking has been a strong supporter of Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse! They bring a wonderful team and a lot of garden tools to share for the event. They are friendly and hardworking!”

Millie Radonjic-Ilich said “Thanks again to Todd and Kyle from LAZ Parking and Kat and Nathalie from Monroe College for helping out today. And also, to New Rochelle Parks & Recreation for weed-whacking in the garden maze, around the pond and the lawns around the greenhouse. Great job!”

Big thanks to Steve Nakashima, who provided invaluable guidance from Canada to our new event chairman, Nicole Forman-Torres!  We still need you, even though you moved away!

With this cleanup, the HPCG committee is getting ready for Arts Fest on October 20th weekend and will host pumpkin painting for the community.
